Hebden Bridge to Stoodley Pike - Sunday 6th June
10.5 miles and 1200 ft total ascent
Lovely walk starting from Hebden Bridge up to Stoodley pike with great views over the Calder valley.
Started with a great canal walk out of Hebden Bridge, passing pretty stone cottages and the remnants of the old mills. The canal was quite busy with barges enjoying the weekend weather and plenty of geese & ducks (and their waste!) on the canal path.
We took the longest, and possibly the most arduous ascent to Stoodley Pike from the hamlet of Mankinholes, but the lunch stop and great views from the top made it well worth it.
We then headed back down the other side through some woods and a steep road, with great views over the town, back to the canal at Hebden bridge. Final stop was of course the ice cream shop in the park!
